More about:
Your equipment requirement will be dependent upon business needs and budget.
Here are some examples of the hardware that may be included in your EPOS system.
Terminals come in various sizes and configurations.
We can advise you on the most suitable terminal for your type of business, whether it's hospitality or retail.
Some things to consider;
- If your business is retail then will a scanner be used?
- Will the terminals be networked?
- Will your staff need any training to use the terminals?
Cash drawers vary in several ways.
In style there are two types;
1. Front opening drawer.

This type of cash drawer can be mounted under a counter or underneath the Terminal.
2. The flip top drawer.

Where the lids opens upwards. These cash drawers need to be placed on top of a counter or shelf.
Internally there are 2 main types of layout, drawers with spring clips that hold the notes down, or slots where the notes are placed in the slots on their edge.
Cash drawers, in particular the front opening ones, come in various sizes of widths, depths and heights enabling you to get exactly the right one for your particular needs.
Also available are lids for the 'inner' sections. This can be useful for example, if the whole tray is being moved to a secure area at the end of trading.
Spare 'inners' are also avaiable, so floats can be prepared prior to shift changes.
Your EPOS system may require different printers for various purposes.
For example; a thermal printer to print customer receipts or a dot matrix printer for kitchen orders.
Touch screen terminals come in a variety of sizes to fit into even the smallest of spaces.
Some terminals can be wall-mounted.
In the hospitality industry handheld terminals are used for taking orders at the table and sending them to the kitchen or the bar. They are used to speed up customer service whilst minimising the number of staff required.
In the retail trade this would usually refer to a mobile scanner for booking in deliveries, checking shelf stock and pricing.
